Some clinics only need 90 minutes to treat the whole body with RF/ultrasound, why do you need 120-150 minutes at your clinic?
“How come you need 120-150 minutes to treat the whole body for cellulite and skin tightening with RF/cavitation, when at another clinic they only need 90 minutes or less?”
Let’s go straight to the point here, giving a direct, honest answer (which some may not like):
“It’s simple, because we are honest and tell you the truth. We don’t just make treatments look quicker, cheaper or ‘miraculous’ just to get your business and boost the commission of the saleswoman at the clinic.”
And I’m not exaggerating here.
This was an exact question by a client I saw recently. This client had a course of (very ineffective) cavitation/RF sessions at another clinic in London, one of those chain clinics with multimillion pound turnover.
Such clinics are renowned for their hard sales tactics by glamorous saleswomen, who promise you the world just to get your business, not caring at all about your needs or about results.
(Another client of mine sent her 75 year old dad at said clinic for a relaxing body massage and they convinced him to have Botox on his face. Oh well, those saleswomen desperately need their commission. You just can’t make it up…)
A proper whole body ultrasound/RF treatment duration
Now this client is quite tall and also curvy.
This means that for her height and dress size, and even with the strongest and best RF/ultrasound equipment in the world (which we use) and the best treatment protocols and skills (which we use and have), she would need to receive treatment for her cellulite and skin looseness for:
40-50 minutes on the back/outer thighs and buttocks
30-40 minutes on the front/inner thighs and knees
20 minutes on the stomach
30-40 minutes on the upper arms
Of course, more areas could be treated (e.g. waist, calves, side of back, décolletage etc) but the above areas comprise a typical “whole body treatment”, which is also what the client wanted.
So, for effective treatment, according to both the research and clinical practice, the total should between a minimum of 120 minutes and, ideally, a maximum of 150 minutes (the more the better, within reason).
Less than 120 minutes for those areas would be inadequate treatment, while more than 150 minutes would be an overkill for her body size.
Of course, not all areas can be treated on the same session (more than 120 minutes is too much for both client and therapist), so treatment for the whole body should sometimes be split in two sessions on different days.
What can be done with a 90-minute full body radiofrequency treatment
Now what how many minutes per area could she have with a 90 minute treatment? More or less the following:
30 minutes on back/outer thighs and buttocks (15’ per side, absolute joke)
20 minutes on front/inner thighs and knees (10’ per side, also a joke)
20 minutes on stomach (that’s fine)
20 minutes on the upper arms (10’ per arm, wholly inadequate)
So basically, after 90 minutes of treatment, even with the best equipment and skills, she would derive no results (and she did get zero results).
Now given that at that specific clinic they offer their staff the most basic training (the equipment is just about OK), you can imagine that the client did not have a chance in hell of getting any results from her treatment. Waste of her time and money.
So how do I decide which clinic to use?
So we go back to the old adages: ”If it sounds too good to be true, it is too good to be true”, “Miracles do not exist” and “Not everything that shines is not gold”.
So, sure, do your research on the internet first, as much as you can do as a non-expert. But then go and actually talk face-to-face to 3-4 clinics, ask several questions, see what they have to say and then use your common sense to decide who knows what they’re talking about, how honest they are and whether their treatment makes sense for your cellulite/skin looseness severity, expectations and budget.
And remember, these durations are what’s needed for good results with RF/cavitation treatment for cellulite and/or skin tightening within 6-12 sessions, received every 2-15 days (not 1-4 “miracle” treatments once a month that many clinics suggest):
40-60 minutes on the back/outer thighs and buttocks
30-50 minutes on the front/inner thighs and knees
20-30 minutes on the stomach
30-40 minutes on the upper arms
Anything less, is just too little:
Any lesser equipment or skills and you need longer treatment or more sessions
Any shorter sessions and you won’t get results
Any less sessions or more spread-out sessions and you won’t get results
Any super-painful, “one off” miracle treatments provided with anaesthetic cream at exorbitant prices and you may end up with adverse reactions, out of pocket - and still no results
These are the facts, so choose carefully.
