Can you workout after a radiofrequency treatment for skin tightening/cellulite?
Absolutely. You can do any exercise you want before or after treatment.
In fact, if you are having RF for cellulite reduction, vigorous exercise right before or right after your treatment will increase the effectiveness of the treatment.
This is because the noradrenaline produced during exercise will maximise the lipolysis (fat release) stimulated by the treatment.
Even fast walking will help, but running, cycling, fast swimming etc are even better.
Even exercise a few hours before/after will help, but exercising right before or right after treatment is ideal
With destructive RF treatments it is not safe to exercise afterwards
The rule above applies to deep-acting, high-power radiofrequency, i.e. strong, effective and safe RF which is provided without anaesthesia.
However, if you are having RF treatment that requires numbing cream or numbing injections, chances are that you skin will be too sensitive (even burned) after treatment, so exercising right after is not a good idea at all.
For example, if you are having microneedling radiofrequency on body areas where there may be friction during exercise, you’d better stay off exercise for a few days, as your skin may be quite raw (the same applies to plain microneedling).
In fact, it is not a good idea at all to have a destructive RF treatment AT ALL, as the very common adverse reactions are not worth the modest results, which can be easily achieved or superseded by safe deep-acting, high-power radiofrequency.
No special gains when you have low power radiofrequency, but at least it is safe to exercise after
If you are having superficial or low power radiofrequency treatment, this will not lead to much lipolysis (meaning it will not be that effective in the first place).
But at least you can have exercise afterwards, provided your skin is not sensitive (some superficial RF treatments can still burn the skin, even if they are of low power, if applied on the same spot for a long time).
