Deep-acting, high-power radiofrequency and high-power ultrasound cavitation are the two most effective cellulite reduction / skin tightening technologies.

If provided with good equipment and responsibly by a well-trained, experienced and knowledgable therapist, both technologies are very safe (99.9%+ safe at our clinic) as well as effective.

However, sometimes a couple of precautions may be needed if skin becomes irritated after treatment.

Ultrasonic cavitation aftercare: can I bath / shower after cavitation treatment?

Cavitation treatments are generally very safe and have a low rate of adverse reactions that would potentially prevent you from having a bath or shower. Usually the only problem experienced after cavitation treatments is mild redness / skin sensitivity, which dissipates within a few minutes or hours.

• As long as skin does not look/feel irritated, then you can have a normal (but not too hot) shower or bath

• If skin looks mildly red/irritated, then you can still have a shower or bath (just keep it luke warm though)

• However, if skin looks very red/sensitive/irritated, then you should seek urgent advice by my therapist, doctor or pharmacist (whoever is available at the time)

At our clinic, even with high power ultrasound intensively applied for up to 20-25 minutes on the same area, we have a very low rate of irritation (<0.5% of treatments).

Bath / shower after safe radiofrequency treatment, applied without numbing cream

Again, RF treatments are generally very safe when provided by good equipment and a responsible, well trained therapist under the pain threshold (without numbing cream).

Such radiofrequency treatment have a low rate of adverse reactions that would potentially prevent you from having a shower or bath. Usually the only problem experienced after proper RF treatments is mild redness / very mild skin sensitivity, which dissipates within a few minutes or hours.

Therefore, the exact same care guidelines apply for RF treatment, as for cavitation treatment (please see bullet points above).

As our RF is deep acting, RF treatments at our clinic have even less frequency of irritation than cavitation treatment, even after high intensity treatment of up to 30-40 minute duration on the same area.

Can you bath / shower after microneedling RF (or other unsafe RF treatment applied with numbing cream / anaesthetic injections)?

Ablative RF, fractional RF, RF microneedling and plain microneedling, among other semi-invasive techniques, deliberately damage the top skin layer (epidermis) and even puncture the middle skin layer (dermis), depending on needle length and overall treatment depth.

Therefore, such treatments carry the risk of infection or severe inflammation, so typically after such treatment you would have to avoid showering / bathing the area for at least a day (more in some cases) and use specialist products to take care of the affected area.

As we do not offer such unsafe treatments and as each treatment is different, please follow the advice of your practitioner for aftercare and management of adverse reactions.
