The best cellulite remedy is clean, healthy nutrition and exercise
Don’t bother much with topical remedies - as we will see below they don’t work nearly as well as a simplistic 2% caffeine cream.
In fact, a the best home remedies you can use for cellulite is clean are super-healthy foods, such as vegetables, salads, oily fish, vegetable juices, berry fruits, berry smoothies, lean protein (lean meat and poultry, fish/seafood and pulses), lots of herbs and spices and herbal teas.
Green tea, gotu kola, pine bark, grape seed, bilberry, quercetin, hesperidin at other polyphenol / herbal extract supplements, as well as a good collagen powder, can also help.
Vigorous exercise, hot and cold showers and strong cellulite-specific massages (at least on the stomach or the front of legs, where you have access) are also helpful.
BTW, don’t bother with pathetic coffee bean scrubbing and dry brushing as they are a sheer waste of time.
A recipe for a home-made caffeine cream remedy: far better than the ridiculous coffee bean brushing
However, if you insist to use a topically applied remedy, there is one which makes sense (kinda) but is - predictably - messy.
Make some strong, very concentrated coffee in the cafetière (by using a lot of coffee and little water) or in the espresso machine (by making a 15ml ristretto espresso coffee).
There would be about 60mg of caffeine per 15mg of ristretto coffee and a similar amount with the cafetière method. This corresponds to 0.4% caffeine concentration - already much lower than any serious caffeine cream on the market (but still probably more than those “bum-bum” cream jokes that sell by the millions to naive consumers).
Now you could apply that ristretto coffee on your skin but it would not absorb much, making it far inferior to a typical caffeine cream (let’s say a 2% caffeine one).
However, if you mix the ristretto with some simple, cheap moisturising cream (or an expensive one, if you want to waste money), then you would create a home-made caffeine cream remedy, which absorbs fat better than the ristretto coffee itself.
However, by mixing your 15ml ristretto even with the same amount of cream, i.e. 15ml of cream, you would dilute your home made caffeine/moisturiser remedy down to 0.2% caffeine concentration. Still, it would absorb far better than your ristretto coffee, so this is a gain.
Now you have 30ml of 0.2% home-made caffeine remedy cream (with 10 times less caffeine than a cheap caffeine cream), with a deep brown colour, which you can apply liberally all over your body. The mix will still not absorb as much as the original moisturiser (let alone a good caffeine cream), but hey, that’s all you can do at home. So you have to wait about 15 minutes to dry.
Of course, you must use some old clothes (or old linen and old pyjamas at night), otherwise you will damage nice clothes / linen / pyjamas, just for the satisfaction of creating a home coffee anti-cellulite remedy.
You should expect to need about 15ml of product for your thighs and buttocks. So if you keep your remedy in the fridge and then mix it again at night (or next morning, if you use the 15ml at night), it will last you for 24 hours (you may have to remix due to separation). Do not keep such mixtures for longer as they will go off. So you need to make one fresh every day.
(In theory, you can keep such mixtures in the fridge for 2-3 days but I find that unsafe - plus the mixture may separate permanently).
Even the best topical cellulite remedy is not as good as a basic 2% caffeine cream - let alone a concentrated multi-ingredient cellulite cream
The alternative to this nightmare is to buy a simple 2% caffeine cream for very little money, get 10x times more caffeine concentration and save yourself all the hassle and damaged clothes / linen.
Yet, we are still not there. Caffeine is only one of the many ingredients that can help cellulite - and not even the most important one. This is also the reason why you should not buy one of a 10% caffeine cream: it will not absorb well and it is an overkill, as caffeine on its own is simply not enough.
It would be nice if you mixed forskolin, centella triterpenes, EGCG, pine bark extract, ruscogenin, hesperidin, curcumin, hydroxyproline, cocoa flavanols, escin, esculin, chlorogenic acid, among other actives, in order to maximise and complement caffeine’s potential and to attack cellulite from different angles - always in combination with diet and exercise, as summarised above.
Such a concentrated, multi-active ingredient cream will provide far better results and will still be cheaper than the new clothes / linen / pyjamas you have to buy after making the above, or any other, anti-cellulite home remedy.
How about an essential oil home remedy?
Another option is to use citrus, pine or similar essential oils at high concentrations mixed in vegetable oil. However, such an approach is only for short-term use as high concentrations of essential oils are highly irritating, meaning that by trying to fix one thing (well, kinda, don’t expect miracles) you may soon have to deal with another - skin irritation. Plus damages clothes, linen and pyjamas from all the essential and vegetable oils.
How about trying to make a full-feature cellulite cream at home?
And yet another option is to try to replicate a good cellulite cream, with all the nice polyphenols / herbal extract mentioned above.
This will inevitably cost you thousands of pounds (those 95% purity active ingredients do not come cheap and do not come in grams, they come in kilograms) and years of hard work (believe me not months, years).
Indeed, even the most expensive cellulite cream out there makes much more sense - and you still need to eat extremely healthily and exercise.
Don’t do this at home
Another option (the really stupid option) is to buy pure 100% caffeine and mix it with your moisturiser and create your own 2% caffeine cream. However, caffeine is not very well diluted in liquids, so your 2% home remedy will probably not mix well and definitely will not absorb well either.
Plus, pure 100% caffeine is a very hazardous substance. Remember your already very strong ristretto coffee contains 250 times less caffeine than pure caffeine powder.
So I would not recommend such an approach as a home remedy. Leave this to professionals and DO NOT DO THIS AT HOME.
The cheap 2% caffeine cream definitely makes much more sense, both in terms of the effectiveness, cost, not wasting time and health and safety.
So the moral of the story is, do your research and buy the best anti-cellulite cream out there (or even a cheap 2% caffeine cream with 10x more caffeine than a home remedy), and save yourself time, money, hassle, skin irritation or a possible accident.
And most importantly, focus on healthy nutrition and lots of exercise.
